Who are you
with your wild ideas and crafty concepts
with your tears and sadness
with your sins hidden in darkness
Who are you going to be today
when the world strips it all away
what will be the real you
with all your secrets exposed today...
If there is anything in your life, that the doing of it makes you secretive... Most likely it is not something that is good either for you or for those that you love. I am not referring to secretly planning a party, or flowers, or keeping your vote private. I am thinking of those things that once you participate in them, you look around pensively, fearfully hoping no one saw you... If there is, in your life a dissonance between what you do in the open and what you do in private then you are setting yourself up for failure. For you cannot be true to the one side of yourself without harming the other...
All of us, I fear have some of this, some secret no matter how small that we would even keep the Savior from knowing if we could. And this sets us up for failure, even a failure to be true to ourselves. As in Hamlet, to thine own self be true...
It is my personal goal to be true to myself, and thus true to all, not to expose my weakness's, but instead eliminate them one at a time until I one day reach that point where I would not be afraid to have anyone know me, to reach a place where the public me would not be at all ashamed of the private me.
We all have a private life, and we should and a private you is the result, but it is my prayer, that our integrity becomes such that we need never be ashamed of our private selves.
"To thine own self be true!!!"
God Bless you,
M. Emmett Townsend
